APHL Continues Growth with Third FPHL Affiliate Partnership

June 13, 2025 — The American Premier Hockey League (APHL) is proud to announce its third official affiliate partnership with a Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) franchise. The Northern Michigan Warhounds have officially joined forces with the Indiana Sentinels, establishing a direct developmental pathway for APHL athletes striving to reach the next level of professional hockey.

This partnership follows two previous agreements:

  • Wooster Bulls affiliated with the Carolina Thunderbirds

  • Summit City Distillers affiliated with the Monroe Moccasins

With the addition of the Warhounds–Sentinels partnership, the APHL continues to position itself as a premier launchpad for player development, providing structure, visibility, and real opportunities for advancement.

Josh Way, President of the APHL, shared his enthusiasm for the league’s direction:

“As we head into our second full season, it’s clear the APHL is growing in a meaningful way. These affiliate relationships help us offer a clear and competitive route to the FPHL, and they reflect the level of commitment our teams have to developing talent. This is about building a league that’s not only competitive but also serves as a real stepping stone for our athletes.”

The Indiana Sentinels praised the Warhounds organization for its upward player movement and development-first mindset during the 2024–25 season. The Sentinels aim to continue identifying talent from the APHL and work in tandem with Northern Michigan’s leadership to prepare players for success at the FPHL level.

Affiliate agreements like these allow players on the edge of professional readiness to gain valuable experience while staying within a system aligned with pro expectations. For the APHL, it’s a major step in fulfilling the league’s vision of becoming a true developmental hub for hockey talent across North America.

The APHL is proud of its growth, the quality of competition it offers, and the expanding opportunities it continues to create for players, coaches, and communities alike. Stay tuned for more updates as we prepare for an exciting 2025–26 season.
