APHL Week 2 Recap

October 25–26, 2025

The American Premier Hockey League delivered another action-packed weekend as all eight clubs took the ice for Week 2 competition. With high-scoring showdowns, tight finishes, and two games extending beyond regulation, the league’s parity was on full display.

Sentinels Stay Hot in Northern Michigan

The West Michigan Sentinels continued their strong start, earning a hard-fought 5–3 victory over the Northern Michigan Warhounds on Saturday night. Despite a spirited Warhounds effort on home ice, the Sentinels’ speed and special-teams execution proved the difference keep the Sentinels without a loss and becoming a 3-0 team, keeping them at the top of the early standings.

Distillers Dominate in Toledo

In Toledo, the Summit City Distillers powered past the Toledo Mobsters 6–2, showcasing their offensive depth. The Distillers capitalized on turnovers and controlled possession throughout the game, improving to 1–1 on the season.

Royals Reign Over Bulls

The Ridgetown Royals also made a statement Saturday, skating to a convincing 5–2 win over the Wooster Bulls. Ridgetown’s defensive structure shut down Wooster’s top line, while their transition play created multiple odd-man rushes that the Bulls couldn’t contain. The Royals’ balanced attack continues to impress early in the campaign.

Tempest Edge Muskies in Shootout

In one of the weekend’s most dramatic finishes, the Buffalo Tempest outlasted the Motor City Muskies 3–2 in a shootout. Both goaltenders were stellar, turning away high-danger chances in a game that felt like a postseason preview.

Muskies Rebound in Overtime Thriller

The Motor City Muskies wasted no time avenging their Saturday loss, bouncing back on Sunday, October 26, to earn a thrilling 5–4 overtime win over the Buffalo Tempest. The rematch featured plenty of intensity and physical play, with the Muskies netting the game-winner just 58 seconds into overtime to split the weekend series.

Looking Ahead

With two weeks complete, the APHL standings are tightening. Teams like the Sentinels, Distillers, and Royals are setting the pace, while others—such as the Warhounds and Muskies—are showing flashes of breakout potential. As the season heats up, every shift, save, and goal will matter in the race toward early playoff positioning.
