Semi-Pro Hockey Coming to Rome, New York

ROME, NY — It is with great pride and excitement that we officially announce the arrival of a new semi-professional hockey franchise in Rome, New York. The expansion team will compete in the American Premier Hockey League (APHL) and will call the historic John F. Kennedy Arena home beginning in the Fall of 2026.

The franchise will be owned and operated by Milliken Sports Group, a sports management group led by veteran hockey executive Jimmy Milliken. Milliken brings years of experience in professional hockey operations, including his recent role as Vice President of the Blue Ridge Bobcats of the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL), also the inaugural season for the Binghamton Black Bears (2021-22).

The new APHL franchise will feature a competitive roster comprised of former professional players, college graduates, and high-level junior hockey alumni. The league serves as a developmental platform for players pursuing opportunities in the FPHL, SPHL, ECHL, and other professional leagues.

As the organization begins building its identity, community involvement will play a major role.
