The Home of Elite Senior “A” Hockey in the United States

The American Premier Hockey League (APHL) stands as the leading Senior “A” hockey league in the United States, representing one of the highest levels of amateur competition. APHL embodies the pinnacle of senior men’s hockey, serving as a proving ground for elite amateur athletes who compete for the coveted Governors Cup.

League Governance and Affiliation

APHL is guided by a leadership team that includes Joshua Way (President), Nick Graham (Commissioner), Ed Howaniec (Director of Hockey Operations), and Troy Boze (VP Officiating). Their direction ensures the highest standards of competition, player safety, and organizational integrity while maintaining the league's Senior “A” classification and amateur status.

League Composition

The member teams represent communities from all over the United States through it's growth plan, the APHL is predominantly based in the Midwest. Each team is steeped in rich hockey traditions and boasts a dedicated local fan base. The league's structure promotes competitive balance, professional-level preparation, and a commitment to community engagement both on and off the ice.

A Tradition of Excellence

Players in the APHL hail from a wide range of hockey backgrounds, including minor-professional leagues such as the ECHL, AHL, FPHL, and SPHL, as well as major and minor junior and collegiate programs. Many choose to compete at this level to represent their local towns, play in front of their hometown crowd, experience intense competition, explore promotion opportunities to higher levels, maintain a balance between work and hockey, and nurture the enduring connection between team and community.

Commitment to Growth

As the landscape of Senior A and Semi-Pro hockey continues to evolve, APHL is dedicated to expansion and modernization. This includes introducing new franchises, fostering community partnerships, and preserving the legacy of Senior “A” competition for future generations.
